Overview: MAC Face & Body Foundation

I picked up five of these foundations a week ago at the MAC Pro Bridal class. I've been hemming and hawing about getting this foundation for ages and have watched and read tones of reviews on this product.
MAC describes this foundation as a "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body."

I've only tried this out a couple of times so it's a bit too early to say for certain whether or not I really like and recommend this foundation, but from what I can tell so far, it is pretty good.

SPRING IS HERE! (well on my nails anyway!)

Heck that's a pretty darn bright nail polish eh?I've managed to restrain myself from removing this polish so far, despite the fact that it is quite shockingly bright, especially for a Monday morning!I first read about this M&S polish on British Beauty Blogger who was also at the time unsure of the colour but now that I've managed to last two days with it on...I have to say this colour is really

Georgia Jagger Introduces New Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick

Rimmel London has always been one of my favourite more affordable cosmetic lines, they always keep themselves ahead of the latest tends & conjure up fab new products, not to forget a line of fabulous famous faces promoting their products!
The latest is Georgia Jagger who is fronting their campaign for their new lipstick launch (they couldn't have found a better pair of pouty lips!!). So the new lippy is called 'Colour Show Off' with a new state of the art formula boosted with Colour Fix Pigments that gives full on high definition colour with a soft but rich velvet finish on the lips, perfect for any occasion!
Lipstick Tips - For best results when applying a vibrant lipstick use a lip brush, begin by taking a small amount of your foundation on the lips to hold the colour, line the lips then fill, blott twice & re-coat each time. For an extra matt finish, take a little face powder over the first coat after blotting then re-apply the lipstck.
Available at Boots & Superdrug - £5.99

NAIL BANDAGES! YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR PURSE!

Quick post to let you know about this fab little nail fit-it kit I bought recently in Sallys.I've got a rather severe split on my right thumb, half way down my nail so cutting it is not an option...eek!As you know I love the "teabag trick", and whilst I was in the hospital I tried microporous tape (doesn't work!)...but this kit is a super fast fixer. It's basically a set of 30 "bandages/stickers"

Alison's Wedding Consultation

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of doing a wedding consultation for Alison who is getting married in June. Alison told me that she doesn't wear makeup on a day-to-day basis and that she really wanted to keep the look soft, pretty and natural.
The key to this makeup was to find a foundation that would give good coverage but look soft and natural. For the eyes, I wanted to bring out the green in her hazel eyes and I think that I was able to achieve that with the colour selection. Here's what I used:

Face:
MAC Face & Body Foundation in C2 - I layered the foundation to cover the redness around the nose and chin.
Mary Kay Conceraler in Light mixed with Jordane concealer 5-P/M-3 and Embrolysse moisturizer (applied under the eyes)
MUFE HD Primer
MUFE HD Powder
Embrolysse Moisturizer
MAC Melba & Gingerly blushes

Eyes:
MAC Paint in Bare Canvas
MAC e/s in Seedy Pearl(lids), Soba(crease) and Blanc Type
MAC Lingering brow pencil to lightly fill in brows
Brown eyeliner smudged into the upper lash-line only

Lips:
MAC Subculture lipliner
MAC High Tea lipstick
MAC Lusterglass lip gloss in Love Nectar

Super pigmented, matte eyeshadow palettes

Good matte eyeshadows are very difficult to come by which is a pity as matte textures are more forgiving as they don't emphasize lines and wrinkles. They're also great to use for everyday wear or when having photographs taken for you won't end up looking like a sparkly mess.

Suppliers of theatrical make-up offer a wide variety of matte palettes with superb pigmentation.
You do need to master the art of being light handed when using these products as well as tapping excess product off your brush prior to applying it to the face cause you might end up looking rather clown like...

So if you're into your palettes and dense pigmentation then read on as this might prove to be a bit of a treat...

Ben Nye Pressed Colour Palette

Ben Nye offers sleek eyeshadow/blush palettes that won't break the bank. The eyeshadow and blush pans are of a generous size (more of a blush sized pan), they have a smooth texture and are incredibly pigmented. One quick dip of the brush into a shadow pan is all you need for great colour pay off and then remember to blend, blend, blend...

Grimas Palette

Grimas makes fantastic eyeshadow/rouge, lipstick and foundation palettes. What's great about them is that you can have a lot of product and still save space as you can stack them on top of each other - sort of like a tower! They have a variety of pre-made eyeshadow palettes to choose from, most of them are matte but they do offer a pearlescent one as well. Just as with the Ben Nye shadows, these too are super pigmented so apply with caution.

Kryolan Palette

This sort of palette comes with an assortment of either 10 or 20 eyeshadow/rouge colours. The tin like container resembles a pencil box and is pretty durable - I've dropped mine once or twice and nothing's happened to the shadows - but still do not try this at home:)
The shadow pans are also of a generous size and very soft and smooth. They do however have a fragrance about them - nothing unpleasant but it might irritate those who'd rather have scent-free make-up. I'd say that out of the three palettes, this one has eyeshadows with more of a buildable coverage as some of the lighter shades have more of a sheer coverage.

Little Hearts

Just a simple look with added little pink hearts...

THE DAMAGE ERASER? WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT...

We all suffer from imperfections right?Well for the last 2 years mine has been this rather annoying little "spot" just under my left eye.You see it never use to be there...but it just grew and grew till the next thing I knew it was popping up in photographs and people were asking me if it was a "birth mark".*sigh*It's not. It's a right big horrible BROWN SPOT.Hyperpigmentation, sun damage, aging..

NOTD: M&S LILAC..OOO IT'S LIKE PARMA VIOLETS!

I am really loving the pastel range of new polishes at M&S at the moment! So much so that I bought 3 in one go...Lilac, Yellow and Mint (not sure if those are the correct names mind you!).Whilst they are more vivid that the pastels Illamasqua and China Glaze are sporting at the moment, for £2.50 a pop you're not going to break the bank!I am absolutely in LOVE with the lilac...it is a slightly

Dolce & Gabbana Brushes

In collaboration with Makeup Artist Genius, Pat McGrath (so much respect), Dolce & Gabbana have introduced a five piece brush collection to their cult, albeit, high quality makeup line. Made of goat and sable, the brushes are too pretty to use, in my opinion, but they will help you blend your makeup with ease and will impart a flawlessly beautiful application. The prices range from $30 - $55 (US).

I recently got sent the new Sleek make up iDivine Bohemian palette and thought I would share my thoughts on this with you!I am loving the new graphics Sleek have used for the new card outer packaging. Meaningful Beauty - New Skincare Range From Cindy Crawford

Over the last week I have been trying out the new skin care range 'Meaningful Beauty®' developed by Supermodel Cindy Crawford with leading skincare expert, and Cindy’s personal dermatologist, Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh. The range is formulated as an age maintenance regime, leaving the skin feeling soft and rejuvenated while helping to protect from environmental damage.
It's secret formula is an advanced antioxidant complex that contains a patented melon extract to help refresh tired skin. It is naturally enriched with other skin revitalising ingredients such as coenzyme Q10, Lipoic Acid and minerals to revitalise skin for a more youthful-looking, radiant complexion.
Perfect as preventative action against the signs of aging & used by Cindy herself the range is available in comprehensive kits so you have the all essential items.

This skin care range is perfect for any woman conscious about the visible signs of ageing and taking care of her skin. Used by Cindy as part of her daily beauty regime, the Meaningful Beauty® range is available in comprehensive kits or singular products so you can stock up on all your favourites. I have been testing out the the 5 Piece 30-Day Introductory Kit, which contains all the below products for just £29.99 which is fantastic value considering you get an entire skin care range, you can also get the larger 90 -Day Deluxe Kit for £69.99.

Skin Softening Cleanser (60ml)
What They Say - Meaningful Beauty® Skin Softening Cleanser is a non-irritating formula that won’t strip your skin of essential oils. Its creamy, non-foaming texture sweeps away makeup and impurities, leaving skin clean and glowing – not tight and dry.
What I found - Definitely does as it says it will do on the bottle, removes make-up very easily too, plus it even shifts stubborn left over mascara! My skin felt soft without any tightening which is always a good sign of a gentle good quality cleanser.

Maintenance 1 – Day Moisture (15ml)
What They Say - Meaningful Beauty® Day Moisture with SPF 8 is a luxurious, super-charged daily shield to protect against free-radicals, which are often responsible for premature aging of the skin. This featherweight face formula with SPF 8 and a clarifying and brightening botanical blend helps to smooth and brighten your complexion, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and revitalised.
What I found - I noticed a brighter complexion straight away with this moistuiser, it was light on the skin without any fragrance & left my skin feeling silky smooth as well as balanced. My make-up glides on easily with the moisturiser too & it actually has lasted a little better than with my normal moisture base, which just goes to show it can double up as a make-up primer as well!

Maintenance 2 – Night Fluide (15ml)
What They Say - Meaningful Beauty® Night Fluide is a great way to achieve smooth-feeling skin overnight. Helping to restore the skin’s nourishment, Night Fluide will help you gain a healthy-looking complexion. Vitamin A is included in the formula to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and promote a refined skin tone.
What I Found - This feels silky soft & hydrates the skin, again my complexion definitely show signs of improvement first thing in the morning!

Eye Crème (7.5ml)
What They Say - Combat puffiness, dark circles and fine lines with Meaningful Beauty® Eye Crème. This extra-rich antioxidant formula helps to revitalise the skin. Carefully selected botanicals pamper, refresh and brighten.
What I found - No dark circles that's for sure, the skin around my eye sockets (which I felt was sagging slightly lately) has seen an improvement, definitely firmer that it was previously - result!

Facial Masque (20ml)
What They Say - You will feel the difference of this ‘facial-in-a-bottle’ after only 20 minutes. An infusion of antioxidants and marine extracts purifies, deep cleans and revives stressed-out skin. Dry, dead surface cells are lifted off and skin-dulling impurities are removed – revealing a fresh complexion that looks clear and radiant.
What I found - You do get that 'just stepped out of the salon' feeling with this one, my skin felt refreshed & a lot healthier over all, a fabulous detox for the skin!

Glowing Serum – Skin Revitalising Serum (15ml) - £13.99
What They Say - Transform dull, tired skin into fresh, glowing skin. Apply Meaningful Beauty®’s Glowing Serum as an instant pick-me-up for a special event or any time you want to look radiant. This luxurious serum is designed to smooth, condition and restore the skin’s natural vitality and brightness. Soy protein, marine botanicals, minerals, vitamin C and antioxidants help nourish, protect and revitalise skin, leaving your complexion with a youthful, luminous glow.
What I found - This is fantastic, again it smooths over the skin under your moisturiser & your make-up just glides on but with an extra glow to your complexion! It has become a daily luxury for me now!

Décolleté and Neck Crème (50g) - £13.99
What They Say - An extra silky formula that helps to firm, moisturise and bring life back to skin in the often neglected area of the neck and chest. Antioxidant ingredients work on the cellular level while lush emollients leave skin velvety soft with a glowing finish.
What I found - This isn't something I have paid too much attention to over the years, but as I gear into my mid thirties (not quite there just yet!), I'm thinking about taking those steps to avoid the turkey neck! I have to say my skin now feels brilliant along my neck & chest, so I'll definitely be keeping up the routine from now on!

Product Review - L'Oreal Lash Serum & Shiseido Facial Cotton Pads

L'Oreal Lash Boosting Serum $17 CAD
This is a Lash boosting Serum containing Centella Asiatica Extract and Arginine to reinforce, condition and protect your lashes.
I've been using this Lash Serum for just over a month and I've already noticed a difference in the strength of my lashes. The major thing I noticed is that usually when I remove my makeup, I lose a lot of lashes but since I started using the serum I barely lose any lashes at all. My lashes look fuller and feel stronger overall. I use the serum twice a day - once in the morning under my mascara and then again at night before I go to bed. Its very easy to apply. This is a great affordable product that helps improve and protect your lashes.

Shiseido Facial Cotton Pads $8 CAD
Made from 100% natural cotton, these facial cotton pads are great for removing your makeup or applying toners or creams on your face. These are the softest pads I've ever used, way softer than your typical drug store brand. They have a very smooth texture and they're super gentle on your skin especially for the area around your eyes. This is a quality product. It holds well together and doesn't shred or fall apart. It doesn't leave any cotton your face. You can use both sides of the pad and they don't soak up product. They come in a pack of 60 which will last you for a long time. They are a little bit pricey but totally worth it. Once you try them, you'll never go back to dry scratchy cotton pads again!!

Review: Vasanti Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Brasilla

This eyeshadow came in my goodie bag from TBBM last month and I'm just getting around to posting my review. I've been wanting to try out this eye shadow for ages. Most of the shadows from Vasanti that I have tried out were more on the champagne (Toronto) or pinky (Paris) side. The website describes this shadow as a deep rich smokey brown with golden sparkle. To me this shadow seems as though there is a tinge of purple in it.

None the less, I really like this eye shadow. It has a somewhat of a creamy texture but you are able to pack on as little or as much of it that you want. The best part about this shadow is that when I use it for smokey eye, I don't need to add black to get the depth that I want. All you need is a light shimmery gold for the brow bone, black liner for the waterlines and some mascara.

Vasanti Cosmetics are made in Canada and are available at select Shoppers Drug Mart & Rexall locations. You can also shop on-line at vasanticosmetics.ca

Have you tried out this brand before? What are your thought on the things that you have tried?

New Trends - A Line Too Far..?????!!!

Now I'm all for experimenting & trying something new, rules are made to broken, but with this look I think it's just all gone a bit too far...!!! Great as a one off statement for the catwalk but surely we all have to agree this is NOT a wearable look, well according to our style gurus at Vogue 'The Horizonal Line' is the new spin on the classic eyeliner look! Maybe one horizontal stroke of liner that is taking us away from the classic style is one thing but a collection of black scratches is another! This 'liner landscaping' is apparently the new way to go with liner, with random slashed lines across both the top & bottom lash lines as well as underneath the eye. I'm sure there are other slightly more wearable ways to opt for with this odd style but over all I think it's just setting us up to make a down right mess! Stick to the classic methods for eyeliner I say which is actually on the lash lines themselves!

My Go-To Products

These are just some of the makeup items that I've been reaching for every day. For work (most days), I like to keep my look really simple and clean and tend to wear a lot of neutrals. If I have more time, then I like to amp it up with some green or purple. Pictured above are: M.A.C. Studio Fix Powder in NW 45, Estee Lauder Stay in Place Concealer in Dark, Sephora Brand e/s in Creme and Warm Sand, Marcelle Volume Precision mascara, Marcelle cleansing cloths, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral, NARS blush in LoveJoy, M.A.C. Viva Glam V lipstick, an Annabelle lipliner in Espresso, MUFE lipliner, Sephora Bran Doe Eye liner pen, Mark Kay Brow gel and MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC 50.

What are some of your go to products?

MOODY MOOs & OVER EAGERNESS = NO!

Good evening! Hope you all had a lovely weekend :)Tonights post is a bit of a ranty one am afraid...SALES ASSSTANTS! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!Before I go full throttle let me first point out that I use to be one. Admittedly it was a long time ago now but the principles am sure are still quite similar meaning whilst I had to show that I would be helpful, I would never STALK A CUSTOMER!My first gripe

Bath & Body Works Goodies

This past weekend I met up with my cousin and bestie for brush. After our yummy meal we hit up Bath and Body Works and a few other stores before heading home.

Dr. Patricia Wexler skin care set containing: Universal Anti-Aging Cleanser, Resurfacing Microbrasion System MMPI20 Skin Serum and Intensive Night Reversal & Repair Cream. There is a day cream but for some reason, it's not included in this kit. I'm looking forward to trying this out once I finish my Dermalogica cleanser.

I really love the Lip Tints from C.O Bigelow. They were buy two get one free so I picked up the Magenta Mint, Violet Mint and a Soothing Lip Buffer. I also picked up four wallflowers and the four scent bulbs as they were on sale four for $20, and three of the Shea Cashmere hand creams that were three for $12.
The wallflowers are amazing; I really like the subtle fragrance that it gives to the room.

Have you tried any of these? If so, I'd love to know your thoughts on them.

Latest Trends - Bold Eyes & Lips - Get The Look!

One of the latest trends that is set to be a huge hit this spring breaks all the beauty rule books on wearing bold eyeshadow & lipstick together!! Normally if you play up one then tone down the other, but not after Dior's A/W 2010 collections on the runways this season, they combined bright blue eyes with red lips & came up with a look that was hot to trot!!!!!!!
To get the look, go for a blue/turquoise shade with a little shimmer through it to add add some reflexion that will keep it light, sweep across the lids but not right into the inner corners (blend a little pearly highlighter there instead). Keep it soft, just a wash of colour & blend it into the socket line so it still stands out, try Urban Decay's eyeshadow in 'Peace' for that perfect light blue/turquoise shade. Don't line the eyes with any heavy liner for this, just go for some white liner in the inner rims of the bottom lash line & lashings of black masacara to make the eyes pop!
For the lips go with hot bold red, take two coats with a lip brush & blot after the first to keep it matt, try Ruby & Millie's Lip Colour in 'Red 450'.

MY MUST HAVE PRODUCT FOR MANICURES!

I remember a while ago I mentioned this product and there were a few curious folk who wanted to know more. What is it if you don't already know?IT'S THE PRODUCT THAT WILL MAKE MANICURES A BREEZE IS WHAT!Once upon a time my nails would bare all. You know what I mean...au naturale, naked, bare...NO NAIL POLISH ON.*shudders in memory*I think I was also guilty of the chipped to death nail polish crime

Model Co Beauty Fix Airbrush Face

Model Co Beauty Fix Airbrush Face is a make-up fixing spray that sets and seals your make-up making it smudge-proof, tear proof and water resistant...and I swear by this stuff!

The first time I purchased this miracle in a bottle, I decided to put it to the ultimate test.
I put my make-up on and sealed it in place with this spray. Upon spraying it onto my face I felt a bit of a stinging sensation but it lasted only a few seconds - however, no one else has complained about this sensation and I fix everyone's make-up with this spray.

So back to my ultimate test - now that I had my make-up all fixed in place I thought that I needed to cry but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't shed a tear...where are those tears when you need them, hey...
Luckily I had a light bulb moment and decided to splatter my face with water. Well I couldn't believe it but the make-up hadn't budged and the more I couldn't believe my eyes the more I splattered and still not a single smudge in sight! I was sold!

Although it is quite pricey, I can't remember the exact price but I think that it's twenty-something pounds for a 58.18ml bottle, it is still well worth it. It's great for a night out, a busy day or hot weather as the only thing that you'll need to touch up on will be your lippy.

So with this spray you will be all set and ready to face yet another no touch up day!

P.S. Oh and no worries - you'll still be able to remove all your  make-up at the end of the day - just use your regular cleanser.
